Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Gold and Silver Ring// Antique cluster engagement ring in yellow gold and silver

Gorgeous georgian rose cut diamond 14K yellow gold cluster ring. The diamonds are set in silver. This was a highly popular style during the georgian period, as it was believed that only a closed back silver setting could highlight a diamond's color and sparkle sufficiently. An idea that was picked up over a hundred years later in Art Deco, where diamonds were mostly set in platinum. The center diamond is yellow in color, which gives this ring a very interesting twist and ties together the face of the ring with the yellow gold.
Another beautiful feature of the ring is what I lovingly call the "ring butt", the backside of the ring where it has been closed and modelled in a typically georgian fashion, as can be seen in the last photo.
